apifighter vs. Postman

Switch from script-heavy collections to visual test flows.

The Postman Scripting Tax

Postman is built for single requests. When building multi-step flows, you must write custom Javascript code to extract tokens and pass variables.

If an endpoint changes, you have to search through scripts hidden in request tabs to find where variables are shared.

Result: High maintenance and complex scripts.

Visual Test Flow Approach

Apifighter is designed for test flows. Requests are chained vertically. If you need to test alternatives, you add horizontal blocks (variants).

All extractions and checks are set up visually. You see the entire flow, including multi-user steps, at a single glance.

Result: Simple, visual, and easy to maintain.

Multi-User RolesRequires environment variables swapping or writing token extraction scripts.Assign user profiles directly to steps. Sessions run in isolation.

Checks & AssertionsRequires writing JavaScript code (pm.test, pm.expect) for every check.Visual low-code assertion builder with JSONPath query mappings.

Why Multi-User Workflows Matter

A typical real-world API test flow involves multiple users:

  1. User A (Owner) uploads a document.
  2. User A requests a sharing link.
  3. User B (Recipient) claims the link to read the document.
  4. User C (Unauthorized) tries to read the document and gets blocked.

In Postman, this requires scripting session storage, headers, and cookies across folders. In apifighter, simply select the user profile for each request.

Test Flow ExecutionMulti-Auth Workflow
1. POST /docs/uploadUser A (Owner)
2. GET /docs/share-tokenUser A (Owner)
3. POST /docs/claim-tokenUser B (Recipient)
4. GET /docs/12345User C (Unauthorized)
